Who Am I?

I’m a total geek. That’s comfortable. I know how to do that. Drop me in a room with gadgets, gizmos, components, and a handful of wires, and I’ll be just fine. Leave me there an hour, and I’ll build you a computer, set up your home network, and still have time for a nap.

I’m a writer. That’s my job. I’m pretty good at it. Sit me down at a keyboard, give me a topic, and I’ll spin a yarn that informs, inspires, encourages, and enlightens. Leave me there an hour, and I’ll already have it sold, invoiced, and delivered to a magazine.

I’m a first-time, expectant father. That’s new. That’s different. Drop me in a room with a baby, diapers, talcum powder, and a pacifier, and I have no idea what’ll happen. Leave me there an hour, and you may find a perfectly peaceful sleepy baby with a clean bottom. Or, you may find a screaming kid in the corner stewing in his own juices while I pace the floor working the pacy like a heifer chewing cud. You never know.

I’m excited. I’m nervous. I’m calm and collected. I’m freaked out and clueless.

I’m a geeky dad, and this is my site. Welcome.

Al, “welcome to the real world…” — yeh, Vault9 is a sweet theme. Glad you like it. You’re off to a great start. I’ll check back often for updates from the feed.

BTW- thanks for the link love. I’ll be adding yours shortly. Also, add some more categories (e.g. parenting, family, life, mac, apple, iphone, etc.) I know you’ll have some good content and folks will be interested…let ’em know.

Finally, you got two births coming up: the baby and yours into fatherhood. Do your best to prepare for both. Most guys don’t and then they come kicking and screaming into the light, wondering, “how the heck did I get here?…life used to be so different.” 🙂

I know you guys will be awesome parents.

    Love from the ATL,

    Me: “Allen’s started a blog.”
    Hallie: “O really?”
Me: “Yeah, it’s the geeky dad dot com”
Hallie: “That’s what I would have called him”

Done and done. Welcome to the blogosphere.

Dude, this is going to be so much fun to watch. Thank goodness I never thought to do this to myself but you are one who likes punishment. =)

Good luck in fatherhood. I think you are going to love it personally. I hated my first year but once Kendall and I could get some form of communication, it has been the time of my life to watch her.

I cannot wait to hear the next bat up my pant kid story from you on this blog. Good times my friend.

  6. I’ve never been more pumped to see how geekery and fatherhood intertwine. This should be good.
